Pupils, staff, and parents are celebrating today after school inspectors reaffirmed that Oasis Academy Temple in Cheetham is a ‘Good’ school.

Ofsted visited the school on Smedley Lane in September for an “Ungraded inspection”, where they visit schools that were assessed as ‘Good’ at their last visit to ensure it is still providing a high-quality education for its pupils.  Today the inspectors have published the report of their findings which is full of praise for the school and the school community.

Pupils told inspectors that they feel safe and happy at school, and that teachers help them and expect them to do their best which helps them to succeed.  Inspectors note that behaviour is well managed and that this means there is very little disruption in class so that everyone can learn and do their best.

Ofsted explain that: “Leaders have designed an ambitious curriculum that includes all of the national curriculum subjects,” and that there is a well-structured phonics scheme that means pupils learn to read with fluency and accuracy. Similarly, leaders have implemented plans so that the needs of pupils with SEND are well met so that these pupils can access the curriculum along with their peers.

Inspectors praised the work the school does to support pupils’ development beyond the classroom, as pupils enjoy visits to places of worship and museums and can take on responsibilities around school such as supporting other pupils as a well-being champion.  Pupils told inspectors that they appreciate the opportunity to participate in after-school clubs such as crochet or basketball.

Commenting on the report, Principal Sara-Jayne Martin, says: “We are grateful to Ofsted for visiting us at Oasis Academy Temple and for reaffirming what those of us who are part of this community know – this is a ‘Good’ school where pupils safely and happily learn and grow together.”

“At the Academy we are passionate about every child having the chance to flourish and succeed academically and so we are especially pleased that Ofsted have noted the care we take in ensuring everyone can participate fully in school life.”

“A ‘Good’ school is only possible with the hard work of the staff, and the support of our pupils and families, and I am grateful to everyone that contributes on our journey to supporting our pupils becoming the best they can be.”
