Super Learning Day - Parliament Day

Super Learning Day - Parliament Day

Check out the learning that took place during UK Parliament Day 2020.

On 9th November, the children took part in a Super Learning Day to celebrate UK Parliament Week. This year we linked the learning to Black history, to continue celebrating Black History Month.

In Year 1, they were learning all about what Parliament is and who sits in the House of Lords and House of Commons. They also now understand the role of the MPs and how it links to the British Values.

In the afternoon, Year 1 found out how Eniola Aluko used her individual liberty to play professional football for England. The children then used the facts they found out to create a fact file about Eniola Aluko.

UK Parliament Day was a huge success in Year 4. They learned all about Olaudah Equiano, one of the most influential people in the abolition movement; discovered the role of Parliament; spoke to MP, Graham Stringer, and, even had their own election to vote for their school councillor!

In 5P they created some amazing art work to share the facts they had found out about Bernard Grant.

To bring our Super Learning Day to an end, we held a special virtual assembly using MS TEAMS.  A huge thank you to Mr Stringer (MP) for being our guest speaker in our virtual assembly. We loved Mr Stringer's suggestions relating to the actions required in order to improve the Cheetham Hill area. The children had an amazing day of learning!
