As part of our English unit of work last half term, we wrote folk tales inspired by a storyteller which also linked to our geography topic about Keswick. Year 3 enjoyed listening to Ian, the Storyteller, and learnt about how stories used to be told in the past. We read the story, ‘The Lancashire Giant’ which is about a boy from Lancashire who wished to be bigger. The children then created ideas and wrote folk tales where their characters (from Manchester) made a wish to be different. The children found this experience to be very exciting and inspirational. It was a fantastic start to hook the children into the English and Geography units.
